Love These Leggings!

Leggings are "IN" this year!!!

AJM Fashions carries Lindsay Lohan's brand called 6126, Members Only, C&C California, Michael Stars, Norma Kamali, and more.

Here's 3 ways to wear leggings:

Outfit 1: Leggings + Casual Blouse + Miniskirt + Flats
Outfit 2: Leggings + Tunic + Jacket + Boots
Outfit 3: Leggings + Casual Dress + Pumps

Leggings tips:

(1) When you wear a shirt over leggings, your shirt shouldn’t fall past the middle of your thigh. Any lower will throw off your proportions.

(2) When you wear a dress over leggings, the rule is that your dress should fall at or above your knee. If your dress falls below your knee, you run the risk of visually cutting off your legs. Not very flattering.

(3) The key to wearing leggings in style is to get the big-over-small silhouette. So when you choose a shirt to pair with your leggings, look for a roomy shirt that’s anything but skintight. Skintight top + skintight leggings = Minus points for style.

(4) When you look for shoes to pair with your leggings, look for three styles: flats, boots, and pumps. Other types of shoes tend not to work as well as these three styles. Our personal favorite is booties with leggings for a rocker chick inspired look.

(5) Our last tip will help you choose a color for your leggings. When choosing a color for your leggings, we recommend echoing another color already existing in your outfit. That is, if you already have grey in your outfit, a grey pair of leggings could be a great choice. But if you don’t already have red in your outfit, don’t try to slip on a pair of red leggings. Or do it knowing that it’s either going to be either fabulous or frightening…nothing in between.

Black Friday Tips

Top 10 tips to Black Friday success

Since Black Friday is a day unlike any other in our shopping year, here are some tips to help you get the most out of your efforts:

1. Plan ahead. Check out Web sites (listed below) that offer leaked information about the upcoming sales. It already has been reported on these sites that Walmart is supposed to have a 50-inch TV for $598, and Kohl's will have a Vivitar digital camera for $59.99.

Also, some stores and malls already have released their Black Friday circulars and they are included there as well.

2. Check the ads. Although many of these sites and news agencies have gone to great lengths to get the scoop on these deals, you won't know for sure about some of them until you see the store's ads.

3. Know what you are looking for. Between the sites and the ads, get a good idea of what you want and go after it. This is not a good day to meander if there is a specific deal you want.

4. Compare prices. Either using the ads or online with sites such as PriceGrabber.com, find out how good a deal you are getting.

5. Bring the ads with you. If you are shopping at a store that offers lowest price guarantees (like Walmart and Lowe's), show them the ad and take advantage of the store's offer.

6. Have a game plan. Map out the stores you want to hit and when, depending on sales you don't want to miss and when the discounts are being offered.

Also, either pack a meal or figure out where you may want to eat. Wear comfortable shoes and don't carry a heavy purse (or any purse, if you can help it).

7. Shop early. Most stores offer their best discounts between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Black Friday. Target is one of the few that is offering the same level of discounts all day.

8. Shop online. You can avoid the crowds and get most of the same deals by staying home and shopping at the stores online. Many offer their Black Friday discounts starting after midnight. Check the specific store online for complete details.

9. Shop with your receipt. If you want to make sure you get an item at the Black Friday sales price, buy it early in the week and come back on Black Friday for a price adjustment.

Most stores will refund you the difference within a certain time frame. Check with your chosen store before you do this, however, to verify the specific rules of that store.

10. Keep your identity safe. It might be chaotic out there, so take only what credit cards or checks you need. Clean out your wallet and don't carry anything with your Social Security number on it.

Vaseline - 5 beauty uses

Vaseline - The Best Beauty Product Ever!
One Cheap Product, 5 Beauty Uses

Every woman needs a jar of Vaseline in her cupboard. Stop the snickering, please, and give us a chance to explain. Makeup artists, beauty experts and many of our own mothers have been relying on this cheap, multi-purpose goop for everything from dry skin to frizzy hair for years. Get yourself a jar - stat - and check out these top beauty uses for one of our all-time favorite beauty bargains.

1. Eye Cream
Sure, you will glisten in the dark, but petroleum jelly will soften the skin around your eyes while you sleep. We cannot attest to its wrinkle-fighting powers, but we know some (good-looking) grandmas who will!

2. Dry Skin
From scaly elbows to rough heels or cuticles, your driest patches will be no match for the mighty Vaseline. (Tip: cover slathered feet in socks to keep your sheets clean!)

3. Frizz Tamer
From split ends to untamed eyebrows, the tiniest dab rubbed between your fingers will tame any out-of-control hair.

4. Lip Gloss
Out of lipstick? Grab a lip liner, blend some color all over your lips, and top with Vaseline for instant color shine on the cheap.

5. Eye/Cheek Gloss
Mix a bit of Vaseline with powdered eye shadow or blush for a highlighting sheen. Apply sparingly – you don’t want people to see their reflections in your makeup.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Painted Intarsia Gloves

Why aren't you wearing this?
Marc by Marc Jacobs Painted Intarsia Gloves

Winter's coming, and you need to make sure you have the right tools to cope with the drop in temperature. We tend to lean toward items that, for one thing, can be worn with multiple things, and for another, can be adjusted according to temperature. These Marc by Marc Jacobs Painted Intarsia Gloves do just that.

Basically, they're gloves, but have a cool fingerless overlay to keep your arms extra toasty when necessary. Plus, they're really unique -- we'd wear them the way the model is, with a tee, before it gets bitter cold. Or, if we had a really cool manicure, we might just leave the glove part off altogether and just wear the fingerless overlay.

AJM Fashions has them in Black/Green and Pink/Tan. At a great, discounted price!

Back to School

It's time for Back to School shopping. AJM Fashions has gorgeous coats, boots, sweaters, jeans, and more - all at AMAZING prices. Here are some tips for your kids, and don't forget that you deserve to look great too!

How to Online Shop for Back to School Clothes Cheaply

STEP 1
Look through last year's school clothes and have the child try on anything that seems as though it may not fit anymore. Put these aside for selling or donating. Notice the gaps in the wardrobe, whether they be in the categories of long sleeve shirts, fleece jackets, turtlenecks, sweaters or corduroy pants. Also, reflect on what the child usually wears versus what he refuses to wear. Otherwise, you may invest in ten sweaters only to notice that he never wears any of them.

STEP 2
Organize or streamline your needs. Narrow down and focus on the categories and sizes you will target. Lean toward the large sizes; for example, if the child is size 10, search for size 10 to 12 rather than size 8 to10. Write these categories and sizes down or keep them in mind while shopping online.

STEP 3
Search through Ebay, using keywords that relate to your category and size, keeping in mind these tips. Favor sellers that allow you to make an offer, provide free shipping or combine shipping costs. Look for lots (can be typed in as a search term); this is usually a shipping bargain, and you don't have to buy, for example, one long sleeve shirt at a time.

STEP 4

Note the condition of the pre-owned clothing and aim for very good to excellent. Also, always note the seller's rating and make sure it is high in order to ensure a dependable transaction.

STEP 5
Realize that you can search according to location (local sellers can mean lower shipping) as well as by lowest price plus shipping. Bookmark your favorite seller's stores for future reference.

STEP 6
Google your target purchase to find other online stores that may offer free or low shipping, or simply bargain or outlet specials. These may include Target, Children's Place, Gap, REI, Altrec, Lands End, L L Bean
and others; check for sales regularly. It often helps to wait to go back-to-school shopping until October or November.

STEP 7
Click through the Babies and Kids category on Craigslist for local sellers of gently used children's clothing. This can result in some great finds, especially for younger children.

Neon Nails Summer Trend

NEON NAILS

Looking for a little bit of innocent fun? As we near the end of July, you have a few more weeks to make sure you've participated in one of the most fun summer trends - NEON NAILS! They are everywhere this summer! Manicures and pedicures in bright colors are a great way to express your fun side. Plus, they are inexpensive and temporary.

Take a cue from The City's reigning beauty queen, Erin Lucas. She turned up at last week's NYC fete for Hugo Boss's recently revamped BOSS Orange collection sporting a very appropriate shade of nail polish for the event--yes, neon orange. The line is all about an edgy, sexy sense of downtown cool, and so is Miss Lucas's look.

You might not have noticed her day-glo mani and pedi if she'd been wearing a floral dress or a busy combination of patterns and colors (or worse, you may have noticed them in a "please-stop-hurting-my-eyes-with-your-insane-clashing" way), but against the backdrop of a simple black dress, they totally pop. She also keeps the rest of her accessories both minimal and neutral, to help draw your attention to that totally wow tone. The simple LBD really works here, but you can try the same idea out with a plain white T-shirt and jeans or with a little white dress.

Go for Orange, Purple, Pink, Yellow OR even Blue!

Backyard BBQ Fashion

Show up to your next BBQ in Style!

During the summer, casual outdoor activities are fun and popular. If you are spending the day at a backyard BBQ, you can dress cool and casual, yet also sexy.

Instead of showing up in a T-shirt and shorts, wear a summer dress. It's casual and comfortable, yet still stylish and sexy. A dress th
at falls just above the knee in a spring color is an ideal choice.

Instead of flip flops, select a pair
of jeweled thong sandals. You can find a wide variety of flat sandals adorned with jewels, crystals, stones and other embellishments.

Some general tips for jeans:
* Look for a waist that buttons or snaps easily (laying down on the bed to do it doesn't count). For low-rise jeans, make sure they don't bind or you'll create a "roll" effect over the top.
* The crotch/back seam portion should fit comfortably without grabbing.
* Make sure the jeans are long enough to wear with whatever you have planned to go with them, including boots or heels. They should reach the top of your footwear in the front. Some manufacturers are even making angled hems to keep you from wearing out the back of the hem.
* Heavy, stiffer fabrics (right-hand twills) won't hang as well on your body. Look for softer weaves and washes that will drape your lower body.
* A slight flare looks good on just about every body type.
* The darker the denim, the thinner you will look. Conversely, you'll look larger in lighter washes (and the new treatments that make you new jeans look old that feature "worn" areas will highlight your figure wherever they are -- like the backside of your jeans; the folds of the crotch, etc.)

Mini Skirts vs. Short Shorts

What's Your Summer Weekend Style?

It's a trend showdown for 2009--shorts versus miniskirts

This summer mini skirts rule the racks along with another teeny-weeny fashion trend: short shorts. Both make ideal weekend-wear and work well with ballet flats, metallic gladiator sandals, and flip-flops for running around and hanging out.

Most women have a preference for one or the other, and I'm no exception. I think a mini (yes, definitely one that's longer than Rihanna's!) is easier to wear than short shorts. It'll skim over the widest, softest (and very possibly the flabbiest) part of your body, making your thighs, bum, hips and tummy look kind of, well, cute.

Shorts, on the other hand, have always seemed to divide, grab onto and expose the fleshiest bits (okay, except on Audrina Patridge, below),which is why I'm happy to see longer versions, too, that don't look boxy, stiff or granny-ish. Just be very sure you can handle sitting, crouching down, pumping gas and crossing your legs without drawing a crowd.

MINIS
Flared, fuller styles in softer fabrics now actually sit at your real waist instead of low on the hip (though a lower waist works well for straight, sturdy jeans-minis). Add a tank and long cardigan to the former, a super-fine, lightweight button-down shirt or a bohemian top to the latter.

SHORTS
Cutoffs are bigger than ever - the more frayed and worn the better, in lengths from top of thighs to knees. My own big question here is why buy them if you can snip an old pair you already own - they'll fray in the wash, but anyhow...here's to helping the fashion industry during the recession. And while there are thousands of baby-shorts, the kind that used to be called hot-pants, the ones that look coolest are cargo-styles. Wear your jeans-shorts and cargos with soft plaid or madras shirts and floaty embroidered tunic tops to underscore the newness.

Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Shop Online

Online shopping is taking the world by storm. Be it for groceries, clothes or even car parts, more and more people are signing up and shopping away with just a click of a mouse. Why is shopping online much more attractive then going out to the mall? Read on for my list of the top 10 reasons why online shopping is so much fun!

1. You get to wear whatever you want.
Yes, you can even wear your PJs, and *ahem* even your birthday suit. No one is going to judge you or think that skin of yours is so last year. You get to shop in the most comfortable way you can think of. And girls, there is no need to spend hours putting on make-up or doing your hair. For some I'm sure this is a drawback, but for most of us, a definite plus!

2. No more crowds and scary salespeople.
The days of wading your way through hundreds of people are gone. No more pushing people around or getting pushed. No more coming into the store and having the salesperson watch your every move as if your face had been on the Shoplifters Most Wanted. When it comes to online shopping, you are at peace wherever you are. In fact, online folks are a lot friendlier. You might even make friends while you are shopping away. I've met many customers and shop owners that became very good friends.

3. You can take your time.
There is absolutely no pressure when it comes to online shopping. You have hours, days and weeks at your disposal. You can take your time to think about it, and ensure that there is minimum regret. Of course impulsive buying doesn't stop short with online shopping. Still, your time is your own and you are in charge of it. The website will not stare you down for a sale.

4. Things get delivered to you.
As much as I love going shopping, the one thing I hate most is carrying the things I bought. Online shopping has lightened my burden in more ways than one and having my order delivered to me is definitely the biggest draw.

5. Search and compare.
If there are ten shops in the city offering the pair of shoes you want, it will be so tiring to visit all of them to find the best price. If you have a computer and a connection, checking ten online shops is a breeze. With time in your hands, you can search and compare shops to find the ones that have the best price and promotions. Shipping and handling costs varies too so it pays to have that as one of your must-do comparison.

7. Save the Earth.
I know this sounds a little huge but every little bit counts. By shopping online, you didn't use any petrol or erode the earth in any way. Maybe you might have send some radioactive vapors but hey that's just a rumor.

8. Online shopping is available anytime.
If you are not a daytime person, and prefer to do your surfing at the wee hours of 2 or 3 am, amazingly you can still shop. That's one of the best things about online shopping. It's available the whole year, every day of the week. Even the owner goes on vacation, you can still shop!

9. Finding rare items.
As the net gets bigger and bigger, the opportunity of getting a great variety of items becomes endless. Maybe you are looking for something that was made ten years ago and now it's no longer sold. There's bound to be at least one person trying to sell it off somewhere.

10. The Anticipation.
You know when you open your mailbox and you see that shining and maybe a little crumpled package there waiting for you. There is this sudden feeling of anticipation and excitement as you grab it, run upstairs and tear the wrapper apart. That's what online shopping does for you. Because when you get that much awaited order, it feels like Christmas came early just for you!

Summer Color Trends

This year's spring and summer fashion trends are going to be colorful and playful and mostly bright and vivid colors are going to dominate.

The hottest of all is going to be the
red color which, as we all know, represents love and passion. Although it is a very brave color you shouldn't be afraid to wear it this year.

Next color, which by the way has endured from last winter, is
purple and certainly shouldn't be missing in your wardrobe in the spring and summer if you like to radiate and attract and arouse curiosity in men.

On the fashion walks we could see different tones of
light green color as a result of approaching spring.

Some designers have also decided to follow lighter tones like
sky blue, metallic and grey because they are considered to be a classic spring colors. Other colors like yellow, orange and gold are going to emerge more often towards June and July, as they represent the beauty of summer and every woman's gratification during this season. Another color you should have in your wardrobe is gold, although it should be used more with accessories. We certainly shouldn't leave out white and black and their combinations, as they are always good to enhance elegance and feminine features in every woman.

Brown
is a color for every occasion and thus is one of the colors of current fashion trends.

Most of us were already getting tired of this long and cold winter and so we have all welcomed warmer temperatures.

Memorial Weekend Sales

Get shopping this weekend! Retailers offer major sales for Memorial Day.

Before the barbecues are lit or the bikinis tied — they have to be bought. And this is the weekend to do it. “Memorial Day sales will parallel the major holiday sales,” says Tod Marks, senior project editor for Consumer Reports. “Retailers will be pulling out the stops, offering you discounts and deals to get you in the store.”

Thanks to the recession, penny-pinching patrons have driven up demand for record-breaking deals this weekend.

“The stores are just overwhelmed with products, especially apparel,” Marks says. Big chains like Target, Old Navy and the Gap are dramatically slashing prices on their summer stock. But clothing is just the beginning. The holiday boasts sales on everything from cars to chronographs, and from cameras to cast-iron cookware. (You can even get a live lobster at an all-time low.) Whether you’re looking for a dining table or a pair of summer sandals, you can nab it at a hefty discount before Monday is out.

UNDER $1,000

Summer's the perfect time to splurge on a new camera so you can capture vacations and day trips. Overstock.com is offering a $30 rebate on select Canon cameras from May 22 through May 25. They include the PowerShot SD780 IS Silver Digital Camera, which will drop from $279.99 to $249.99; the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Blue Digital Camera, going from $229.99 to $199.99; and the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Orange Digital Camera, dropping from $229.99 to $199.99.

Some dealerships are practically paying customers to buy their cars this weekend. Participating Toyota dealers are offering $1,000 cash back on the 2009 Prius through June 1. There’s also a lease special — $179 per month for 36 months (an extra fee applies at signing). Go to buyatoyota.com to print out special offers, and check local dealers such as Lee’s Toyota (139-65 Queens Blvd., Jamaica, 1-800-796-9377)

Enjoy 10% off bedroom furniture at Overstock.com, May 22-25. A Waynesborough queen-size bed that normally sells on the site for $499.99 will be reduced to $450.

New Yorkers do a lot of walking - especially during the summer. Make yourself feel better with Brookstone’s calf and foot massagers, which will be discounted by $50 tomorrow through Monday. The OSIM iSqueez (reg. $399) works on your feet, calves and ankles to make you feel more relaxed and limber. And the more advanced OSIM uSqueez (reg. $499) has 15 customizable massage options, including three auto-massage programs. Brookstone: Rockefeller Center, 16 W. 50th St., (212) 262-3237, Brookstone.com.

Weird and wonderful creations by Subversive Jewelry are on sale to make room for new ones. Check out a Quartz Pixel Cluster Necklace, vintage crystal on chain with quartz and glass-bead spokes, usually $1,200, on sale for $720. You’ll find it on subversivejewelry.com in the “Fit to Print” section of the Golden Drawer, or call (212) 679-0453.

Over at Crate & Barrel, the comfy Cameo Armchair is now $499 (marked down from $699), and the stylish mahogany-and-brass Regency Desk has been slashed from $1,199 to $799. Added incentive: If you spend $250 or more at Crate & Barrel through May 31, you’ll automatically get 15% off your next purchase. (store at Broadway and Houston St., 212-780-0004, crateandbarrel.com).

West Elm’s Memorial Day sale, save 10% when you pay with a Visa card. (Offer valid from today through May 31.) That means a set of four scoop-back chairs, originally $349, is $314.10. 112 W. 18th St., (212) 929-4464, westelm.com.

2009 Bathing Suit Trends

Summer is just around the corner, and swimsuit trends are certainly making big headlines in the world of fashion. This year is particularly big with bikinis - although the one-piece suit continues to hold a secure place in the realm of classic swimwear. So whether you want to bare more with a bikini or cover up with a classic one-piece, there are a number of trends available for you this summer.

The hottest trends for 2009 include one-shoulder bikinis and monokinis. One-shoulder bikinis are ideal for adding a bit of shape to a bikini, as well as to draw attention to your top half. However, monokinis are perfect for anyone who wants the aesthetic perks of a bikini, without all the exposure. A monokini is a revealing one-piece suit; albeit, it's still a one-piece - which means it's more apt to stay together and keep you covered. It's also easier to swim in a monokini - and if you choose the right one for your body type, it can be considerably more flattering than a traditional bikini.

Cut away swimwear and bikinis are another hot trend. Much like the one-shoulder trend, the cut away style offers interesting shapes and draws eyes to particular parts of the body. Want to draw attention to your shoulders? Opt for a cut away piece that has shapes cut out towards the top of your swimsuit. Alternatively, if you want to draw eyes to those abs you worked so hard to tone, wear a suit with some cut outs at the waist.

Another trend with regard to 2009 swimwear has to do with accessories. Let's face it: wearing a swimsuit doesn't always mean you plan to go for a swim. You may just want to work on your tan, or lounge comfortably in your suit. Or, perhaps you plan to attend a pool party where you want to look fashionable in your swimwear, without getting your toes wet. Swimwear accessories are expected to be very popular this summer, encompassing everything from sheer swimwear cover-ups and big sun hats to chunky jewellery that compliments a suit. So, whatever type of swimwear you opt for this summer, don't go without the accessories!

Last, but not least, it's important to keep a colour scheme in mind when shopping for a swimsuit this season. Because of the daring shapes in cutout bikinis monokinis and one-shoulder styles, this season's colour trends seem to veer towards solids and bold colours. After all, too many shapes and prints combined might prove to be overload. So when choosing a colour for your swimsuit, you'll also want to keep your skin-tone in mind. Certain colours simply look better on certain skin tones.

Therefore, don't just shop based on colours you normally like to look at - consider what will look best on you. That way, you are sure to find the right swimwear for your needs this summer.
